Ukrainian is the business language in trade with Ukraine and in agricultural and industrial partnerships. mots Tercüme translates contracts, commercial documents, company papers and official correspondence between Ukrainian and Turkish.
Ukrainian Cyrillic
Ukrainian is written in the Cyrillic alphabet and contains letters that do not exist in Russian. The language of a document is identified by looking at these letters, not at the alphabet alone.
A separate language
Ukrainian and Russian are separate languages and are not used in place of each other in official documents. The language of documents to be submitted to Ukrainian authorities is Ukrainian.
Official transliteration
Ukraine has an official system for writing names in Latin letters, and this system is used in passports. In translation the spelling in the passport or the registry document is taken as the basis.
Trade in agricultural products
In the trade in grain and agricultural products, contracts, certificates of analysis and shipping documents may arrive in Ukrainian. Analysis results such as product quantity, moisture and protein values are checked separately.
Company types
Ukrainian company types are written with Cyrillic abbreviations. In translation the abbreviation is kept and, on first mention, what it is gets explained.
Noun declension
In Ukrainian, nouns are declined according to their function in the sentence. In translation from Turkish into Ukrainian the declined forms of institution and product names are used consistently.
Number and date format
In Ukrainian the date is written in the order day, month, year, the decimal separator is a comma and the thousands separator is a space. This format is preserved in financial documents.
Industrial and energy jobs
In partnerships in the industrial and energy fields, technical specifications and project documents are translated. References to standards and norms are not translated; they are carried over as they are.
Power of attorney and authority
In Ukraine the authority of a person who will act on behalf of a company is shown by a detailed power of attorney. Each item in the list of powers is carried over in translation with none skipped.
Formal style
Ukrainian official correspondence uses formulaic expressions. A corporate letter is built to suit these formulas; the content is not changed.
Spelling rules and updates
The official spelling rules of Ukrainian have been updated over time. In a corporate text the current official spelling is taken as the basis and a single spelling is used throughout the file.
From Ukrainian into Turkish
Noun-heavy, passive sentences are common in official texts with a Ukrainian source. When they are carried over into Turkish, the meaning is preserved and the sentences are built on the verb-centred structure of Turkish.
When certification is needed
Ukraine is a party to the Apostille Convention. For documents to be submitted to a Ukrainian authority, the sworn translation and apostille chain is planned at the start of the job.
Services requested together
Ukrainian jobs most often come under legal translation, notarised translation and technical translation.
Summary
In Ukrainian corporate translation the first check is the language of the document: although they share the same alphabet, Ukrainian and Russian are separate languages. A file whose language and name spelling system are identified correctly raises no questions at the receiving authority.
