This page answers questions about the quality arrangement and the correction process. The point most often confused is whether a correction request is an error or a preference.
How do you ensure quality?
Two layers are applied: preparation that prevents the error from arising, and review that finds the error that has arisen. Assigning the right person to the right job is the most decisive step.
How many people see the translation?
Apart from the person translating, an independent reviser compares the text with the source. In publication-ready jobs proofreading is done in addition. The steps are written in the scope.
Is revision included in the price?
It is stated clearly in the quote. Whether it is included or not changes the fee directly. This line makes two quotes comparable.
Can I have it done more cheaply by skipping revision?
The scope can be narrowed, but this is a decision on the quality level and is recorded in writing. It is not recommended for texts that will be published.
Can I ask for corrections after delivery?
You can. The period and the procedure are defined in the contract. When requests are passed on collectively in one go, the process becomes shorter.
Are corrections charged for?
Correcting errors caused by the service is not charged for. If the source text has changed or a new preference has come in, that is a separate job. The distinction is in writing.
I want to change a preference; does this count as an error?
Changing the choice between two correct options is not an error. The preference is entered in the guide and applied in later jobs. The solution looks forward.
How should I pass on my correction request?
Which section is problematic and why is shown with concrete examples. General dissatisfaction cannot be examined. Detail speeds up the process.
How long does a correction take?
Correction jobs are not put in the queue; they are carried out with priority. The time depends on the number of findings. The date is notified.
Can the text be redone completely?
It is, if the density of findings exceeds a certain threshold. The criterion is defined in concrete terms. The decision rests on measurement, not on impression.
Do you measure quality?
Findings are recorded according to their type and severity. The measurement shows a trend. The results can be shared periodically.
Can the number of errors be zero?
Zero errors is not a measurable target. Instead, a measurable acceptance threshold is defined. The threshold is determined according to the type of document.
What is done if the same error is repeated?
One looks at the root cause: is it preparation, matching or time. The measure is applied not to the text but to the process. The lesson is entered in the checklist.
How do you protect my term preferences?
The approved list is loaded into the tool and compliance is scanned. When no list is given, the decisions remain with us and a difference of preference may arise later. The list is requested at the start of the job.
Is consistency spoiled if different translators work on it?
A shared terminology list and memory reduce this risk. The joining points are scanned separately. In jobs with several people this check is mandatory.
Can I object to your assessment?
You can. The findings are presented with their reasons, and the disputed ones are examined together. If necessary, an independent opinion is obtained.
Is there a part of quality that depends on our side?
There is. The clarity of the source text, the terminology list given and the questions answered determine the output directly. These data are shown separately in the report.
